I am really going to try and give a decent review without reviling to much of the novel because that's what Amazon seems to be requesting now!I really enjoyed this book. The story line starts off pretty slow but it quickly builds as you progress throughout the chapters. The characters are really well rounded and the writer does a good job keeping your attention all the way through. The writer also did an excellent job informing the reader about the complex and history of the New York subway system. I didn't know anything about it until I read this book, but I love stuff like that. There are a few chapters, that in my view, really slowed the novel a bit. I really love books that are fast pace and on point. This novel wasn't to bad but there were just a few scenes that just didn't need to be there if you asked me! Personally if I'd written this book I would have added in a few "adult" scenes, because it was clear that the two main characters have feelings for each other, but none of it was ever "expressed" in the book, and believe me there times when they could have!
Overall this book is a good read and I highly recommend it. Hopefully this review didn't give away to much and helped you in making a better decision.

I love finding a new series to binge read! Take a lot of action and adventure, season it well with a little science and a pinch of science fiction, and finish it with a dash of mystery and magic, and you have a Cy Reed Adventure. Halfway through book 4 of the 5 book series, and it has been well worth the journey. Fans of Andy McDermott and Clive Cussler will not want to miss this great read.
I liked the book because it was different than what I normally read. Cy is the star of the book and he was a treasure hunter.
I like to switch to different types of book to read. I found Chaos while browsing thru the library. First reading by this author. I found this book highly interesting. The story line is very good. I sometimes wondered how much pain one man can take. All in all I enjoyed this book immensely.
resurfaces with a vengeance in the subways beneath NYC. A fair portion of the story revolves around the cities first underground rail network.
Agree with other reviewers....stacks up very well if you like Dirk Pitt. Its like many other good action novels, but Meyer adds in setting / environmental details that really add depth. Editing is very good too, unlike many self-publishers. Mr. Meyer Love historical detail / mechanical detail, never hesitate to throw it in there....its like candy for me, so keep it coming. Your characters have decent depth for an action novel, I hope that continues, especially for those close to Cy. The only criticism I have is a slight one, and common / necessary to the genre in many ways probably...but these folks sure have amazing recuperative powers ).
I look forward to the next book!
I recently discovered local author David Meyer through a local online newspaper - and I'm glad I did. This a very good first adventure novel. The author introduces us to Cy Reed, and takes us on a fast-paced thrill ride in the bowels of the NYC subway system. The writing reminds me of Clive Cussler, without being over the top - making it more believable. Recommended reading.
Cy Reed is an archeologist turned treasure hunter. Most of the story takes place in the New York subway system. There's plenty of action and a romance as well. Cy isn't a super-hero. He's just a guy that doesn't give up.
I liked the story well enough to buy the second book in the series. When the third book comes out, I'll buy that one as well. It's always nice to find an author you like. Give David Meyer a chance.
